"So, just what sort of outreach should my students
do?" you ask.
At the risk of limiting your own clever ideas (we don't want to do
that), you may want to consider having your students deliver:
- Slide presentations
- Hands-on demonstrations
- Interactive CD and/or web programs, which are
demonstrated in the classroom and then left behind for the teacher's use
We also encourage that you consider granting "extra credit" for those
of your students who deliver additional presentations made outside the
formal classroom, such as museums, community events, homeschooling
groups, etc.
How you check to confirm that the students actually performed their
outreach tasks is up to you. In our experience, the simplest way is to
have your students produce letters from those middle and high schools
that have benefitted from your students' efforts.
